Pastor José Antonio Pagán Currás

Nació en San Juan, Puerto Rico. Empezaba a vivir cuando, el 6 de abril de 1980, se convirtió en el primer adventista de su familia cuando tan sólo era un estudiante de segundo grado de la Academia Primaria Adventista. Unos meses después ganó a su padre José Antonio Pagán y a su madre Aida Luz Currás para el evangelio, dando sus primeros pasos como evangelista. Siempre cursó en las escuelas adventistas de su isla natal y concluyó su grado universitario en la Universidad Adventista de las Antillas, en Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
Siendo muy joven inició su ministerio en el país en 1991, como capellán; luego fue pastor asociado y asistente del director de jóvenes de la asociación, sirvió como maestro de Biblia, líder y evangelista juvenil. En el año 2000 recibió un llamamiento de la Asociación de la Florida para ser el primer pastor de jóvenes de la iglesia de Forest City en Orlando, FL. Esa congregación contaba con 1,200 miembros, en su mayoría jóvenes con menos de 35 años; luego fue el pastor principal en West Palm Beach, FL, una vibrante congregación al sur del estado.
En el 2004 llegó a Houston, por invitación que le hiciera la Asociación de Texas, donde el Cielo bendijo su labor como Pastor Centurión en la ganancia de almas en varias ocasiones desde el año 2008.
Es fundador y orador del programa de Discipulado Juvenil "Jesus Loves Jeans". desde 1995, originado mientras era estudiante ministerial en la Universidad Adventista de las Antillas. Este programa, que adiestra y equipa a los jóvenes, se ha difundido ya en inglés, castellano, portugués y pronto en francés.
Desde el año 2009 al 2014 fue el Enlace Ministerial de la Southwestern Adventist University para el territorio de la Unión del Suroeste de los Estados Unidos. Luego desde el 2014 al 2019 fue el pastor principal de la Iglesia Adventista de Dallas Pleasant Grove. De agosto del 2019 hasta septiembre del 2021 fue nombrado como Pastor Senior de la Iglesia Adventista de Keene Spanish en Texas, una vibrante congregación de más de 700 miembros. Sirvió como Director Ministerial, Evangelismo y Ministerios Multiculturales de la Conferencia de Arkansas-Luisiana donde Dios se manifesto grandemente. Es un Capellán de la Policia con todas las certificaciones de las agencias de ley y orden ademas posee el endoso como Capellán Policiaco de la Division Norteamericana.
Desde el 1 de enero de 2023 fue nombrado Director de Jóvenes de la distinguida Conferencia Central de California encargado de la evangelización juvenil para que se multiplique en todos los ministerios juveniles de área central del estado.
El Pastor Pagán posee una Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral de la Universidad de Andrews en Michigan y actualmente completa un Doctorado en Ministerio Pastoral especializado en Evangelismo Urbano de la misma universidad. Además los esposos Pagán poseen una Maestría en Psicología y Consejería Familiar. En el 2018 fue considerado por la Conferencia General para ser el Director de Conquistadores Mundial entre tres lideres comprometidos con el Ministerio Juvenil.
Junto con su esposa Martita ministran con gozo, juntos celebran su mayor alegría sus cuatro hijos Migdalia, José Emmanuel, José Gabriel y Juan Josué. Ama a la juventud, disfruta el ministerio como una gran aventura de bendición, y su pasión es la proclamación de las buenas nuevas del Evangelio de Jesucristo.
El pastor José Antonio Pagán ha viajado y compartido la Palabra de Dios en todas las principales ciudades de los Estados Unidos y en países como: Brasil, Argentina, México, Nicaragua, Perú, Paraguay, Colombia, El Salvador, Cuba, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, Islas Virgenes y muchos otros lugares donde ha visto la vida de muchos jóvenes transformada por Cristo. Le encanta proclamar el Evangelio de Jesucristo fundado en Su Palabra y el Don de la Profecía, y declara: "¡Los jóvenes y jóvenes adultos junto a los ministerios JA de la mano con el evangelismo, son mis mayores pasiones, y la sangre del Conquistador corre por mis venas!"
Elder José Antonio Pagán Currás
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was just beginning to live when, on April 6, 1980, he became the first Adventist in his family as a second-grade student at Adventist Elementary Academy. A few months later he won over his father José Antonio Pagán and his mother Aida Luz Currás to the gospel, taking his first steps as an evangelist. He always attended the Adventist schools of his native island and completed his university degree at the Adventist University of the Antilles, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
Initiated his ministerial journey at a very young age in 1990, 19 years old, called to work as the chaplain and bible teacher of the Adventist Academy in the capitol of Puerto Rico. At those early years he also worked assisting the Conference Youth Director, and was exposed to speaking at large youth events, and became well known and loved by individuals of all ages. Founded “Jesus Loves Jeans”, in 1995, a well-known bilingual youth discipleship initiative that trains and equips youth and young adults in personal evangelism and small groups ministry. This program has brought many young lives to the feet of Christ and some even to accept the calling to pastoral ministry. ASI and Advent Source have recognized and support “JLJ”. Responded to the invitation from Florida Conference in 2000, and became the first youth pastor in Forest City Church in Orlando, the largest Hispanic Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Southern Union Conference. Then served as Senior Pastor at West Palm Beach, a vibrant and energetic congregation south of the state.
A new calling to mission was received in 2004 from the Texas Conference to the great city of Houston. While serving and preaching the Lord’s Word with great enthusiasm, he was recognized as a Centurion in soul winning on several occasions.
Southwestern Adventist Union opened a new position and extended an invitation to work as Pastoral Liaison at Southwestern Adventist University, from 2009-2014. God used him to bring more young people to Adventist education while working directly with the Union Conference.
From 2009 to 2014, he served as the Ministerial Liaison for Southwestern Adventist University for the territory of the Southwestern Union of the United States. During 2014 to 2019 he was the senior pastor of the Dallas Pleasant Grove Adventist Church. From August 2019 through September 2021 he was appointed as Senior Pastor of the Keene Spanish Adventist Church in Texas, a vibrant congregation of more than 700 members.
He served as Ministerial Director, Evangelism and Multicultural Ministries for the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference where God was greatly manifested. He is a Police Chaplain with all the certifications of the Law Enforcement agencies, he also has the endorsement as a Police Chaplain of the North American Division.
As of January 1, 2023, he was appointed Youth Director of the distinguished Central California Conference in charge of multiplying youth evangelism in all youth ministries in the central area of the state.
Pastor Pagán holds a Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry from Andrews University in Michigan and is currently completing a Doctoral degree in Pastoral Ministry specialized in Urban Evangelism from the same university. In addition, the Pr. Pagán and wife have a Master's Degree in Psychology and Family Counseling. In 2018 he was considered by General Conference to be the World Pathfinder Director among three leaders committed to Youth Ministry.
Married to Martita M. Pagán with whom he shares the love to reach and evangelize others to Christ. Both have a passion for Adventist Youth Ministries and are active Master Guides since their teenage years. As they minister with joy and enthusiasm, they give thanks to God for their greatest happiness, their favorite four young people: Migdalia Esther, José Emmanuel, José Gabriel and Juan Josué.
Pastor José Antonio Pagán has traveled and shared God’s Word in many cities in the United States, and in countries such as: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, El Salvador, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands and many other places where he has seen many young people’s lives transformed for Christ. He loves to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ founded in His Word and the Gift of Prophecy, and he states, “Youth, young adults and AY ministries hand in hand with evangelism are my biggest passions, and Pathfinder blood runs thru my veins!”
